How MML used data and knowledge to reduce return maintenance visits and critical system downtime for our customer

A customer with sites across the UK was paying £70k annual fees for temporary cooling to use in the event of critical cooling system breakdowns at their sites.

We carried out analysis on the data collected via the CAFM system and used this insight to identify the root cause of the breakdowns.

We were able to identify skills and knowledge gaps with some of the supplier’s engineers which was resulting in return visits to site; we also identified critical spares that commonly contributed to protracted unavailability of the cooling system, which caused a requirement for temporary cooling.

By working with the supplier to increase the training available to engineers and by procuring and storing critical spares at strategic locations around the country, we have been able to reduce return maintenance visits by 30% and temporary cooling costs by 20%.
